From a mechanical standpoint, there is no question that Fallout: New Vegas has better gameplay than Fallout 3, but the world of Fallout 3 is more interesting to explore. New Vegas was a little bit different - they advertised more locations, but at the end they just called a broken car a 'location'. New Vegas is unarguably the better RPG and Fallout game, but I recommend starting with Fallout 3 because we already know one plot element in it (the Institute) will play a major role in Fallout 4. Similarly, New Vegas is a very buggy game, even eight years later. Unfortunately, Fallout New Vegas is a game that suffers from frequent crashes, especially if you heavily mod it. Step 3: New Vegas Anti-Crash. It is also the case that Fallout 4 is most likely set before New Vegas, by about 4 years. The issue is the game is unfinished in both a literal and figurative sense. Step 4: Mission Mojave. Like the other games in the series, Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas combine the best elements of the RPG and FPS genres. NVAC is a simple mod that reduces the chance that your game will crash. Both feature top-notch graphics complimented by engaging stories and missions. Very nice! Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas - they're both great. Fallout: New Vegas is a great game, arguably the best of the franchise.
